21 Young Street

Designed by Assael Architecture, 21 Young Street is a new development consisting of 53 private apartments, penthouses and family mews houses on the edge of Kensington Square in London.

Formerly a 1960’s built car park, the new build rises from 5 to 8 storeys, responding sympathetically with the immediate context of adjacent Grade II listed buildings.

The stone detailing of the building creates an elegant elevation at street level whilst forming a shared landscape courtyard at the heart of the development. In addition, residents have use of a gym, library and private cinema.

The approach to interior details on the project was meticulous and this was no different for the doors. Shadbolt were asked to provide various dyed veneer samples to find the exact complimentary tone for the interiors.

Once the samples were approved manufacture commenced of bespoke dyed grey sycamore stile and rail veneered panelled doors with dyed black hardwood inserts around the perimeter of panels. Factory primed FD30 and FD60 fire and acoustic performance doors and doorsets were also supplied.
