Barts Square

Barts Square is a new urban mixed use quarter in the heart of the City of London. Masterplanned by Sheppard Robson, the site covers 2.3 acres and comprises ca 230,000 sq ft of office space and 215 high quality residential apartments in 17 buildings with retail space on the ground floor. The design of the new buildings picks up on Smithfield’s traditional warehouses and classic stone-and-brick façades. A revived church garden provides a tranquil green setting for residents, and new cafés and restaurants will add further vibrancy.

Phase Three of the redevelopment of the site, involved the demolition of Queen Elizabeth II House, 62 Bartholomew Close, 42-44 Little Britain and 45-47 Little Britain. In their place, 92 residential units and 10,700 sq ft of retail space has been constructed.

Shadbolt were asked to assist with the residential element of Phase Three, contributing high quality doors to complement the crisp interiors, with contemporary design at their heart. We duly manufactured and supplied bespoke FSC® certified crown cut European oak veneered FD30 and FD60 fire and acoustic performance doors and hardwood framesets for the apartment entrance doors. These doors were stain finished with a water-based lacquer to match the architects’ approved pattern, whilst meeting the highest of environmental standards.
