Rathbone Square

Formerly the site of a Royal Mail sorting office dating back to 1951, the new construction at Rathbone Square is a vast mixed used development providing 160 high-end apartments and exciting new office space for Facebook.

Designed by Make Architects, Rathbone Square consists of two L-shaped blocks ranging from six to nine storeys. The positioning of the buildings create a new publicly accessible garden that when chanced upon, gives the feeling of discovering an oasis away from nearby Oxford Street.

Shadbolt were asked to assist with elements of the interiors on the residential part of the project. Specification of materials was of the highest quality and it was imperative that the veneered elements of the interior were consistent. Working closely with the architect, Shadbolt were asked to match the control sample of straight grain European oak veneer, stain finished to the exact colour and sheen required.

Shadbolt duly manufactured and delivered fully tested PAS 24 entrance doors to the apartments, veneered in the architect-approved veneer. FD30 and FD60 fire
performance veneered doors and doorsets were also provided for communal areas, complete with integral
glazing portals. Finally, veneered cupboard doors and panels for lifts and staircases were supplied, ensuring that the attention to detail of matching veneer was continued throughout the project.
